Bell Island_Day 05
On our fifth day on Bell Island, we had the pleasure receiving help from members of the Wabana community.
The construction crew from the Town of Wabana was back to help out with the digger, and a diverse range of community members came out to load rocks into the gabion baskets. Notably, two Grade 5 students (who both admitted that loading rocks was better than school work) and Paul Hickey – a farmer on the island – who could strong-arm any boulder you could find! We also happily received gifts of food and drink. Many hands made light work, as they say. We capped off an amazing day of work with a visit out to the Lighthouse at dusk.
