Work Hard. Play Harder!
It was a bittersweet night for the Build Team.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,
All play and no work makes Jack a mere toy.
While we were very happy and proud to accomplish the 2013 Community Build in Port Union, it also meant that we only had a few more hours until the long drive back to St. John’s to catch our flight home. But before we said our goodbyes, it was all laughter and games at The Factory as the Coaker Foundation put together an exciting Fun Night for everybody! We were very excited to have so many members of the community join us in celebrating the end of our 14 day design-build project in Trinity Bay North.
Inside, the kids, the build team included, engaged in a series of games with varying degrees of difficulty: from the easier hula hoops and stacking of empty soda cans, to the challenging pasta game. Outside, the kids embraced Foundation Square instantly, running along the new boardwalk, zipping through the poles of the arches, climbing over the log-scape, and lounging on the benches.
As we light up the Main Street of Port Union, we are reminded of the excitement that this municipality has in fostering lively communities. Everybody gathered outside The Factory to watch a series of historic images of Trinity Bay North, along with images that we’ve collected during the past two weeks, projected on the west facade. A whole lot of thank yous and goodbye hugs were had, too. And as the night got darker and much colder, we were treated to some nighttime s’mores and beverages as we gathered around the small campfire to cap the night off.
Needless to say, we couldn’t ask for a better way to celebrate our successful community build in Port Union, and our only hope is to come back for another party at the Foundation Square with our “Newfoundland family and friends”.
